THE FAN
FILM PROJECT

This project's trailer excited me quite a lot. The film itself turned out shorter than I was expecting it. Which is fine, I guess.
Can't fault the opening logos, very classy. When the film actually begins it occurs to me that it's been a very long time since I've seen The Blair Witch Project. Hope the references don't get too specific.
It's hard to judge production values in a movie spoofing something that itself was made on the cheap. Liked the cool night vision effect (though how do the characters intend to shoot at night without any actual lighting?), and I appreciated the detail of the cameraman taping his watch.
This is ending up having very little to do with Star Wars, and I'm beginning to wonder how to classify this thing.
I'm giggling already at 5:32 because I can guess what's coming. At about 6:02 I am proven wrong. I liked my way better, but I give the filmmakers points for being original. (My guess, incidentally, was Jar Jar.) This is the first time I've seen their actual subject referenced in a fan film without being the focus of it. Clever.
Oh, and seriously cool end titles. Possibly my favorite thing about the whole project.
The spirit of the style, if not the details, were captured accurately here, but things were a little lacking on the humor side. It was more of an exercise than a film, and probably not enough of a parody.
